About

I am an artist working in Cambridge, UK. I have an MA in both Ceramics and Fine Art Printmaking.

In 2019 I stopped creating my highly distinctive ceramic wall panels in 2019.  I still love them, but after 25 years, I was ready for a change and a new challenge.

At present I am continuing to explore painting and am currently working on some new mixed media pieces. I am enjoying exploring different mediums, looking to find equivalents to the rich textural qualities I found in the ceramic and printmaking processes.

I have always been inspired by the natural world.  Being out in the landscape quietens the mind and accesses a contemplative part of the brain where patterns and rhythms begin to emerge.  This fascination for the beauty of the landscape has deepened in this way and finding order in this natural chaos is explored through abstracted, non-linear patterns and mathematical forms.

These patterns are integral to my way of seeing the world.  They touch a chord within that is primeval and meditative. Some of the earliest artworks are based on symbols and geometric patterns.

My paintings use mixed media including acrylics, collage, drawing and organic materials. My prints combine both the techniques of intaglio and relief printing and techniques such as carborundum and collagraph often layering several plates together.

I have exhibited widely in the UK and abroad.  My work is included in private and corporate collections in the UK, Europe, America and Japan.

In February 2021 I completed a commission of six large paintings for the Cambridge Crystallagraphic Data Centre to complement the beautiful building designed by Danish Architect Erik Christian Sorensen.

As well as exhibiting in galleries and at art fairs, I work in collaboration with art consultants and interior designers to create site specific work. I also offer a bespoke commissioning service for domestic and corporate interiors. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss an idea.
